When Nintendo released Mario Kart Tour for mobile devices, imagine how excited I was to finally relive the days of old when I got to jump on a kart using my favorite Mario characters and battle it out through different challenging tracks.
With new race tracks, fancy new mechanics, and even more exciting challenges, Mario Kart Tour is the upgrade that we needed the most to boost the racing genre.

About Mario Kart Tour
Mario Kart Tour is a mobile game within the Mario Kart franchise and is the ninth game from the series. First announced in 2018, the game was released in September 2019 and was made available for both iOS and Android devices.
The game is free to download and play but unlike many other Mario games, the game uses the microtransaction system like many other mobile games.
The goal of the game is to win a race by getting first place. Players get to obtain the item by driving through Item Boxes and use those items to either crash the enemy or create any form of diversion that will distract the opponents and get an advantage.
After each race, players get rewarded with experience points, Grand Stars, and many more.
Where and How to Download
Mario Kart Tour is currently available on the Google Play Store and the App Store for both iOS and Android devices. To download, search for the game in the app's search bar using the title. Select the correct option from the results to go to the app's download page.
Once there, tap “Install” and wait for it to download. Tap “Open” once the installation is complete to launch the app.
Take note that there will in-app purchases so make sure your account is eligible for proper transactions.
Getting Started
I've always wanted to play this game and after finishing the tutorial to learn some basic steps in playing the game, I went immediately to the standard challenges.
The game is played in landscape mode and I control my kart by dragging my fingers across the screen.
There are other ways to control the game as well, one of which is by using the phone's gyroscope. I can also tap on the screen to make the kart jump and drift. There are so many ways for me to control my kart and make fancy moves to gain an advantage during the race.
The Lowdown on Rubies
There are many currencies used within Mario Kart Tour apart from coins that you collect during a race. Rubies, for example, are the premium currency in Mario Kart Tour that are bought using real money. They are mainly used to summon new drivers or purchase new karts and gliders.
There are other uses for rubies apart from items in the game. I can also use rubies to play Coin Rush where I can multiply the rubies that I have depending on how much I invest.
If there is one thing that I suggest that you do in this game apart from playing and getting to the top, it's making sure you get enough rubies.
How to Get More Rubies in Mario Kart Tour
One thing I noticed when I played the game for the first time was that the game immediately awarded me a complementary amount of 20 rubies for simply trying the game out.
While this can get you started in the game, it is barely enough to use it on the things that you want from the game so learning how to get more rubies in Mario Kart Tour is important.
Here is how you can get more by simply playing the game.
Level Up
The first thing that I want to share that will help you earn more rubies in the game is to level up. As you race through the game, you gain experience points until you reach a point where you level up.
You will receive a decent amount of rubies every time you level up your character so go ahead and play more to receive more.
Ranked Cups
In the game, there is a special game mode called Ranked Cups events. Entering the Ranked Cups events and winning them will give you a hefty amount of rubies. The best part is that the higher your rank, the more rewards you get.
Make sure to brush up on your racing skills when doing the Ranked Cups since you are going to go against some of the best in the game.
Practice first before joining the Ranked Cups so you get the most out of this event.
Complete Missions
In Mario Kart Tour, some tours are listed for us players to complete. These missions range from simply playing the game to joining different races and events that the game is hosting. Every time you complete the tours, you receive Tour Gifts which may contain a lot of rubies.
However, earning the Tour Gifts can be quite challenging so nothing will ever be easy in this game.
I noticed that I had to win a lot of the races on the listed missions and acquire enough Grand Stars first before I could claim any Tour Gifts as a reward. Nevertheless, tour gifts provide a significant boost in your quest to earn more rubies in the game.
Purchasing Rubies
Of course, the game would not survive without any in-app purchases from us. This means that if you want to get rubies immediately for your character then you should consider purchasing them at the store on the app.
Rubies can be bought at the store using real money. They are usually priced at around $1.99 for 3 rubies up to $69.99 for 135 rubies which is enough for me to acquire a lot of things in the game.
Subscribe to a Gold Pass
I always believed that if you want to earn more you have to invest first. This is why I highly recommend that you get the Gold Pass to earn more rubies in this game. It's a great investment and you will immediately notice why I like it so much.
The Gold Pass helps you earn rubies much faster than the usual free route. I've purchased mine for $4.99 and it runs for about a month. The subscription can be canceled or continued for the following month if I want to or if I feel like I have earned enough rubies for my account.
The Gold Pass boosts the number of rewards you receive in the game so the more you play with the Gold Pass activated, the more rubies you get from leveling up and completing tours. Right now the game offers a free two-week trial of the Gold Pass so you can experience how awesome it is to play the game with it.

Just like any other mobile game, Nintendo's Mario Kart Tour wants you to play the game as much as possible every day. The game entices you to play it daily by giving you daily login rewards. Most of these rewards include rubies so you can use them for your account.
Log in every day to get all the free daily rewards. Simply launch the app, collect the rewards, play a few matches, and move on.
Just make sure that you log in to the game at the same time every day so you won't miss your rewards.
Exchange Event Tokens
Event Tokens are acquired by playing games during an event. Normally, I get these event tokens when finishing a course or when I get coins from a crashed opponent, and sometimes, I even get them from an item box.
There are other ways to get event tokens such as hitting opponents using Bob-ombs or crashing your opponent using shell items.
Once you get enough event tokens, head over to the Event Shop and exchange them for rubies. There are other items at the Event Shop that you can exchange your tokens for but rubies are my top priority so that I can get more drivers, gliders, and karts.

With over 57 racecourses in cool places like New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, and Vancouver to choose from, Mario Kart Tour introduces us to many fun features that are very reminiscent of the old Mario Kart games that I have come to love as a kid.
