An Introduction to Stumble Guys
Playing Stumble Guys is all about running through a series of obstacle courses, dodging different types of traps, and surviving to get to the very end. Lots of traps and obstacles await you, and some of them might even launch you into space if you're not careful.
Similar to many other physics-based multiplayer racing games, Stumble Guys' main objective is to simply get to the finish line as fast as possible.
It's a very fun game to play, but things can get pretty serious and challenging when you're up against other players. When I first started playing this game, I was running around without knowing anything, and I wish I had a guide to tell me what to do.
Fortunately, you've come across the guide, and I'll tell you everything there is to know about the basics of playing Stumble Guys.
Downloading Stumble Guys
But first, let me tell you how to download this game. Stumble Guys is available on all mobile devices, including Android and iOS. It can be downloaded through the Google Play Store and the App Store.
Developed by Kitka Games, Stumble Guys can be easily located by searching for the title of the game on the platforms mentioned above. Once found, tap “Install” or “Get" to begin downloading the game.
You can link your preferred payment option while waiting if you want to support the game. Once the game is fully installed, tap “Open” to launch and begin playing with friends.
Change the Controls and Camera Setup First
Once you've launched the game, the very first thing to do is to reconfigure the controls of the game. If you want to have the best experience when playing this mobile game, then you'll have to change the way you control your character.
You'll need to experiment on a lot of things when it comes to your control setup. To do this, I recommend that you go to the settings and go through the controls.
I can change the camera control area and even the size of the buttons when I'm playing so it won't get in the way of the main screen. There are still a lot of controls that you need to switch around to make your experience comfortable.
Do this before you play any competitive mode in this game.
Learn the Different Types of Maps in Stumble Guys
There are different kinds of maps in Stumble Guys. One of the most common and most popular types of maps is obstacle courses. Obstacle courses consist of different obstacles where players have to dodge projectiles, jump over traps, climb over walls, and more.
Most of these maps have themes such as space maps that have low gravity which means I get to jump higher than usual and float around for a while before landing back on the ground. The next type of map is very similar to the obstacle course - race maps.
Race maps focus more on the competitive aspect of the game. The map slowly shrinks, and the player who gets to the end wins. Arena-based maps are the most competitive map because you play against other players in a confined space and try to eliminate each other.
Don’t Be Too Hard on Yourself
All of the maps mentioned above offer different mechanics. Some require me to stay together with the main group, while others want me to find the right path while dodging obstacles.
Some maps have misleading directions as I try to get to the end, and if I take a wrong turn, I drop down and get eliminated. The game involves a lot of risk-taking and a lot of experimentation.
Whenever you feel like you can't beat a specific map, don't be too hard on yourself. There might be a mistake you made that needs to be corrected, or you're simply just unfortunate.
Stumble Guys is meant to induce fun and entertainment, so don't feel pressured into playing the perfect game. Learn how to have some fun. I suggest you try to invite your friends to play the game to amplify the fun factor.
Master the Art of Air Dashing
There are a lot of moves that have helped me survive the navigate the obstacle courses and other maps in Stumble Guys. One of which is air dashing. Air dashing is when I jump in mid-air and dash in a specific direction.
This allows me to get through different obstacles and traps while gaining distance from my competition. Master this skill first, and you'll surely have one of the best tools to get yourself into the frontlines faster than anyone.
While this move is often used by many, it is also one of the more dangerous moves to do in the game. One minor mishap when air dashing can lead to your elimination. As always, the risk of making this move is very high, but if you do it right, the rewards are worth it.
Save Your Gems for Crucial Items
Gems are the premium currency used in Stumble Guys. These are commonly used to purchase skins, emotes, and animation for my character. I can also use gems to unlock the Stumble Pass, which provides even more rewards as I play the game.
However, gems are difficult to come by if you don't have plans on purchasing them with real money. There are several ways to get gems for free in the game, and I'll tell you more about it down below.
For now, I suggest saving up all the gems that you collect throughout the game and only purchasing items that you need. One highly recommended item that can be purchased is the Punching emote, which I can use to knock back the enemy.
Make sure to prioritize purchasing this emote and then save the rest for anything that you like to have.
Getting Gems and Other Rewards in Stumble Guys
Let's just right over to rewards. The game is gracious enough to provide us with a good amount of rewards, such as skins. All I need to do to get free skins is log in to the game every day.
There will be instances where I can watch an ad to get the skin that I want, and most of the time, these ads are short, so it doesn't take a lot of time. I also receive a few rewards after each match, no matter what my standing is in the game. Gems are often given after the match in random amounts.
However, it still pays to have the top spot after each match to get the highest score in the game. Make the most out of these rewards by watching the ads after each match and then collect all the rewards that you can muster.
Use the Terrain to Your Advantage
By now, you already know that there are a lot of obstacles in this game that you need to overcome. There are also some that you can take advantage of.
I often find myself running and sliding through different obstacles, and there are some that I can use to boost myself. In some maps, some obstacles send me in a certain direction whenever I hit them.
I make good use of this, and instead of blasting in the wrong direction, I knock myself forward and get myself into the frontline.
Learn how to use the obstacles and the terrain to your advantage, especially if you find yourself in a dire position.
It’s Okay to Be in Second Place
Many players often make the mistake of trying their best to get the top spot. However, this is not a great objective for new players. It is quite impossible to get to the top spot right away.
It takes a lot of practice, dedication, patience, and skill to finish first. Don't worry about getting the top spot right away. Focus on finishing the course first.
It's okay if you don't get first place. The second place is still a winning spot.
Conclusion
Stumble Guys has been one of the most enjoyable games that I've played in a long time. The competitive nature of the game coupled with slick animated graphics makes the game less serious and a whole lot of fun.
