If you think about the original three films of Lord of the Rings, this particular game embodies them. As a player, you have control over 80 players and each player has their own abilities.

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (2004)

You have new characters that are quite unique and each area of the game has a wide array of quests to complete. However, what stands out the most is the evil mode that you can access when you have won in an area of the game.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War (2015)

If you have ever played Shadow of Mordor, this particular game improves the whole concept. They pretty much look alike if you have played the former, but Shadow of War improves every aspect. 

You have a more complex nemesis system that is hard to beat. The other thing that you may find intriguing when you play this game is that once Talion is leveled enough, there’s no stopping him. 

You also get a good number of explorable regions on the base game to make it fun. Each of the regions is quite different from the last and has its own ranks.

The Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle-Earth II (2006)

With this one, there’s an addition of dwarves, goblins, and elves, all of them as playable characters. And with the feature of War of the Ring mode, you can combine base tactics with a real-time strategy in the gameplay.

The player character has more freedom than the predecessor. They can create as many buildings as they possibly can and any place on the map. This in turn brings in a more flexible environment when you play.
